Ghana Medical Trust Fund Partners with Sweden Ghana Medical Centre To Expand Access To Cancer Care

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund (GMTF) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre to expand access to specialised cancer diagnosis and treatment for eligible patients.

The partnership will give beneficiaries access to critical services including radiotherapy and Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Scan services, advanced technologies essential for diagnosing, treating and monitoring cancer.

GMTF said that for many families, a cancer diagnosis comes with two battles: fighting the disease and finding the money to pay for treatment, a situation the Fund is working to change.

Speaking on the agreement, GMTF Administrator Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku said the partnership is ultimately about the patient, stressing that no Ghanaian battling cancer should be denied critical treatment simply because they cannot afford it.

With Sweden Ghana Medical Centre joining GMTF’s growing network of healthcare partners, the Fund said hope is getting closer, access is expanding, and more lives can be reached, noting that when it comes to saving a life, the ability to pay should never be the final word.
