Africa CDC Appoints Frank Annoh-Dompreh To Continental Immunisation Advisory Council

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has appointed the Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Hon. Frank Annoh-Dompreh, as a member of its newly established Continental Immunisation Advisory Council (CIAC).
In an invitation letter dated August 14, 2026, with file number AU/CDC/ODG/IM/02, and signed by the Director of the Immunization Directorate at Africa CDC, Dr. Folake Olayinka, the continental health body said Hon. Annoh-Dompreh was specifically identified for the role in recognition of his distinguished leadership, expertise and contribution to the immunization and health agenda, development and social impact in Africa and globally.
“On behalf of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), I have the honour to invite you to serve as a member of the Continental Immunisation Advisory Council (CIAC),” the letter stated.
According to the Africa CDC, the CIAC is being established as a high-level, independent advisory body to provide strategic advice and thought leadership to support implementation of the Continental Immunisation Strategy (CIS) 2026–2030, accelerate immunisation uptake and ensure that Africa’s immunisation agenda remains firmly anchored in political leadership, accountability and country ownership.
The Council will bring together leaders from public health, the political environment and government, finance, parliaments, academia, civil society, communities, the private sector and other strategic constituencies.
Its deliberations will address some of the continent’s most consequential immunisation priorities, including sustainable domestic financing, reaching zero-dose and underserved populations, vaccine security and African manufacturing, stronger primary health care systems, and protecting immunisation gains in fragile and conflict-affected settings.
“We believe that your voice and experience would make an important contribution to these deliberations and strengthen the Council’s ability to provide bold, practical and Africa-led advice for real-time solutions to African Immunization issues,” Dr Olayinka added.
The Africa CDC clarified that membership is by individual appointment, with members serving in their personal and independent capacity rather than as representatives of their respective institutions.
Hon. Annoh-Dompreh has accepted the offer. He signed the acceptance letter on August 20, 2026, and is expected to participate in an orientation session for the onboarding of CIAC members to be organised by the CIAC Secretariat.
