GH₵1.46 Billion Paid in Claims in 2026 So Far — NHIA

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has paid GH₵1.46 billion in claims to credentialed health facilities from January to August 3, 2026.
According to data from the Authority, the year-to-date payments as of August 3, 2026, include the latest tranche of GH₵256.5 million paid on July 29 and August 3, 2026, to health facilities across the country.
The Authority says the timely payment is aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and sustaining public confidence in the Scheme.
“Timely claims payment strengthens the healthcare delivery system, improves patient outcomes, and reinforces public confidence in the NHIS,” said Dr Victor Asare Bampoe, Chief Executive of the NHIA.
The GH₵1.46 billion payout represents one of the largest claims settlements within a seven-month period in recent years and is expected to ease the burden on service providers and ensure uninterrupted access to healthcare for NHIS subscribers.
