Ghana Deploys 61 Health Workers to Grenada

The Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment has seen off a batch of 61 Ghanaian nurses travelling to Grenada to take up employment under a bilateral arrangement between the government of Ghana and the government of Grenada.
The nurses were seen off at the airport on Tuesday morning by the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment Hon. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum and the Chief of Staff of the Republic of Ghana, Hon. Dr Julius Debrah, who represented His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama at the departure ceremony.
Addressing the nurses, the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment urged them to demonstrate the diligence, professionalism and commitment for which Ghanaian workers are widely recognised.
He encouraged them to serve with dedication, uphold the good image of Ghana and make meaningful contributions to the healthcare system of their host country.
The Minister further reminded the nurses not to lose sight of their families and their homeland as they embark on this new chapter of their professional lives.
He encouraged them to remain hardworking, responsible and connected to their roots while taking advantage of the opportunities available to them abroad.
He noted that the successful deployment of the nurses could open doors for more Ghanaian workers to benefit from similar international employment opportunities.
He stressed that their conduct and performance would be crucial in building confidence among prospective employers and demonstrating the competence of Ghanaian professionals.
The Minister explained that other employment opportunities abroad were being pursued for Ghanaian workers, adding that the best way to sustain and expand such opportunities was for those already deployed to distinguish themselves through hard work, discipline and professionalism.
He urged the nurses to see themselves as ambassadors of Ghana and to conduct themselves in ways that would encourage other countries to seek the services of more qualified Ghanaian professionals.
For his part, the Chief of Staff, Hon. Dr Julius Debrah, said he was at the airport on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama to bid the nurses farewell and wish them well as they travelled to begin their assignments in Grenada.
He encouraged them to work diligently, remain committed to their responsibilities and make Ghana proud through their service. He also wished them a safe journey and success in their professional endeavours.
The departure ceremony underscores the importance of bilateral cooperation in creating international employment opportunities for Ghanaian professionals while strengthening relations between Ghana and partner countries.
The nurses were accompanied by the Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, the Director of Labour and Employment, the Acting Chief Labour Officer and other officials.
The Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment remains committed to facilitating decent work opportunities for Ghanaians, strengthening international labour cooperation and ensuring that Ghanaian workers are well positioned to contribute meaningfully to the development of both their host countries and Ghana.
