KMA Warns Drivers Against Charging Illegal Transport Fares

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has cautioned transport unions, station executives and drivers in the metropolis to immediately stop charging unapproved fares.
In a statement, KMA said its attention had been drawn to the recent charging of illegal transport fares, describing the practice as “illegal and highly unacceptable.”
The Assembly announced that a KMA enforcement task force will soon visit various transport unions and stations to ensure compliance with approved fares.
KMA further warned that transport operating permits issued by the Assembly will be revoked immediately if any transport executive is found charging unapproved fares.
The Assembly urged transport executives at both regional and branch levels to ensure that station officers and drivers, whom it described as the “worst culprits” in charging unapproved fares, comply with the directive.
For further information, the public and transport operators have been directed to contact Mr Randy Wilson, Head of the Transport Department of KMA, on 0244540238.
