Gov’t Charges New Envoys to Drive Trade, Investment and Diaspora Welfare
Government has commissioned Ghana’s newly appointed High Commissioners and Ambassadors-Designate, with a charge to be visible and effective advocates for Ghana’s interests amid a period of significant global change.
The envoys were commissioned by Vice President Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang on Wednesday on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama.
The new envoys have been posted to Kuwait, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Niger and Norway.
They were urged to build on Ghana’s existing relationships, deepen bilateral cooperation and pursue new opportunities to advance national interests and deliver tangible benefits for Ghanaians.
The veep also stressed the responsibility of the missions toward Ghanaians living abroad.
It was emphasised that citizens in their respective jurisdictions must be treated with dignity, engaged consistently, and assured that Ghana and its missions remain available to support them.
He pledged the necessary support for the envoys to succeed.
The appointees were further urged to be guided by the performance standards and KPIs introduced by the President, and to approach their assignments with professionalism, integrity and a clear sense of purpose.
