Otumfuo Briefed about $25 Million Proposed Resort Project at Mim
The Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has received a formal briefing regarding a proposed $25 million eco-tourism resort development planned for Mim in the Ahafo Region.
The proposal by businessman Nana Yaw Sarpong, alongside Walkway Engineer and Developer Asare Frimpong, was presented to the King by the Okoforobour Dr Yaw Agyei, Paramount Chief of Mim Traditional Area, during the 6th Awukudae Festival on August 12, 2026.
Speaking on the vision behind the initiative, Nana Yaw Sarpong stated that the development aims to replicate world-class resort infrastructure experienced abroad within Ghana, creating a premier destination for local and international visitors.
He added that investors had been secured.
Detailing the plan, Walkway Engineer and Developer Asare Frimpong explained that the multi-phased $25 million project will feature an artificial waterfall constructed on the mountain, a zipline adventure course, and various hospitality amenities.
He emphasised that the proposed resort on the Mim mountain will address the lack of established tourist centres in Mim and spur local economic growth.
The developers noted that the eco-tourism project is being undertaken in honour of the Asantehene.
He further sought the blessings of Otumfuo to proceed with construction.
Otumfuo welcomed the initiative and commended the young entrepreneurs for their vision and goodwill toward driving development in Asanteman.
“I thank my grandchildren for their goodwill,” the Asantehene stated. “If all young people push for development like this, Asanteman would have advanced.”
The King entrusted the oversight of the project to the Mimhene, issuing a stern reminder regarding the spiritual and cultural sanctity of the area, specifically referencing the sacred Mimbour mountain deity.
Otumfuo directed that while development should proceed briskly, any activity that violates sacred customs or local tradition must be strictly prohibited.
“Mimhene, this is in your care. Mimbour is my deity. Whatever is against tradition shouldn’t go through, but whatever else can proceed. You know the tradition.”
