Diaspora Affairs Office Partners with WIDU to Disburse €2.5 Million in Grants to Small Businesses by 2028

The Diaspora Affairs Office of Ghana has announced plans to support small businesses across the country with €2.5 million in grants between now and 2028, as part of efforts to help entrepreneurs grow, create jobs and expand their impact.

The announcement was made by the Director of Diaspora Affairs, Kofi Okyere Darko, following a meeting between the Office and officials of the WIDU Programme.

Present at the meeting were Fridah Kibuko, Programme Component Manager, and Daphne Amarkai Quayson, Junior Technical Advisor, for the formal presentation of the WIDU initiative and to explore opportunities for collaboration.

According to the Diaspora Affairs Office, the WIDU Programme supports African small businesses through diaspora funding, coaching and grants.

The partnership is expected to channel resources directly to local entrepreneurs to help them scale their businesses and drive sustainable economic impact in their communities.

Mr Okyere Darko said the collaboration aligns with the government’s broader agenda to leverage diaspora support for local enterprise development.

He noted that the €2.5 million in grants to be disbursed over the next two years will provide much-needed capital and technical support to small businesses struggling with growth and job creation.
