2026 WCQ: Paintsil, Djiku Absent For Chad Assignment

The Ghana Football Association has announced that two of the 24 Black Stars players handed call-ups for Chad and Mali World Cup qualifying games will be absent for the first game.

Alexander Djiku and Joseph Paintsil could not make it to Accra before the team departed for N’Djamena, it said in a statement.

For Paintsil, the FA said he arrived in Accra this morning, having missed his connecting flight from New York to Accra due to a delayed departure from Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, it said Alexander Djiku is in Moscow to sign a contract and will therefore arrive in Accra on Friday.

“The technical team will work with 22 players for the game against Chad, scheduled for N’Djamena on Thursday, September 4, 2025.”

This means that the two players will be available for the home game against Mali on Monday.
