1T1L: 1st Phase Of Distribution Ends On Friday

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the first phase of the distribution of Teacher Mate 1 laptops will come to an end on Friday, December 17, 2021.

The first phase had been specified for the distribution of the laptops to Senior High school (SHS) teachers across the country.

As of Friday, December 10, eighty per cent (80%) of the 62,000 SHS teachers laptops had been distributed, the GES announced giving an update on the initiative.

In a statement signed by the Head of Public Relations Unit at the GES, it was noted that the delivery of the laptops to Junior High School (JHS) teachers and Basic school teachers will begin when schools reopen in January 2022.

As a way of providing technical support to teachers benefitting from the “One Teacher One Laptop” initiative, 260 District ICT Coordinators have been trained with the certified Microsoft ICT tools.

Additionally, digital online training and learning modules will commence in the coming weeks for teachers which will include digitizing lesson notes, using online tools for learning management and supporting learners.

According to the GES, the online training will attract Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points for teachers.

K.A. Technologies Limited, the supplier of the laptops, has signed an agreement with all major publishers to have their textbooks and other teaching and learning materials uploaded on the portal, the GES stated.

The leadership of the three teachers’ unions involved in procuring laptops for pre-tertiary teachers during a press conference last week, directed the Ghana Education Service to make the laptops available to teachers whose monies have been deducted in the name of the 1T1L, by 31st December 2021.

GES, in its latest communique, says it remains committed to the scheduled date for the distribution.
