18-year-old Woman Allegedly Raped and Murdered at Anwiankwanta
In a harrowing turn of events, police in the Ashanti Region have launched an investigation into the alleged rape and murder of an 18-year-old woman in Anwiankwanta.
According to sources, the 18-year-old apprentice was last seen accepting a ride from unknown individuals in a vehicle, who purportedly offered to drop her off at her residence.
When she failed to return home, her concerned neighbours and community members embarked on a search mission.
Tragically, they discovered her lifeless body in an uncompleted building just a few meters from her home.
Eyewitnesses on the scene reported that the young woman was partially unclothed, igniting suspicions of a potential sexual assault leading to her untimely demise.
Law enforcement authorities promptly responded to the distress call, launching a comprehensive inquiry to unravel the mysteries surrounding her tragic fate.
The Assembly Member for the area, Hon Frank Awuah affirmed in an exclusive interview with OTEC News that they suspect the sad incident to have occurred on Saturday September 16, 2023.
According to him, videos and pictures from the where the girl was found shows whoever killed her must have raped the woman before murdering her.
“The deceased was half naked when her body was found in the uncompleted building close her home, some residents in the area suspect she was raped, killed at a different location but was dumped in the building”
“I side with my poeple on their suspicions, because I also believe the young woman was raped and killed by some unidentified assailants,” he added.
The Assembly Member revealed that, the body has since been deposited at the morgue of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi by police pending autopsy.
The shocking news of the woman’s death has reverberated through the tight-knit Anwiankwanta community, with residents collectively demanding justice for the victim.
