16-year-old Girl Alleges Assault by Aunt
Sixteen-year-old Precious Asieduwaa Antwiwaa has alleged that her aunt mistreated her, leading her to run away from home.
Speaking on the Masem show, she explained that she was verbally assaulted by her aunt’s family.
She revealed, “They don’t beat me, but they verbally assault me. They sometimes call me a witch.”
Precious described her daily routine stating, “After school, I get home at 4 pm, then proceed to go and sell mangoes, spaghetti, or biscuits. Afterwards, I go and cook and do other household chores before finally being able to do my homework. I need time to learn.”
When asked why she didn’t inform her mother about the situation, Precious explained that her aunt’s family was always around whenever her mother called, making it difficult for her to voice her concerns.
Her mother, who also appeared on the show, revealed that this wasn’t the first time her daughter had run away from her aunt’s place.
She had initially fled due to fear of being beaten by her aunt. The incident occurred when she was in class 4 and was not receiving sufficient financial support for her upkeep. Feeling hungry one day after school, she cooked jollof rice but mistakenly used more rice than needed. She shared some of the rice with a neighbour, which angered her aunt, leading her to run away.
When Precious ran away from home the second time, her mother reported the incident to the “Masem” team.
According to her, she received a call from a bus conductor around 10 pm, informing her that Precious was on her way to Kejetia. Her mother pleaded with the bus conductor to take her daughter to a police station or provide her a place to spend the night. However, the bus conductor arranged for Precious to continue her journey on another bus. Precious was declared missing but has now been found.
Her mother expressed her gratitude to the Masem team for their assistance in relocating her daughter.
