₵177M To Be Released For Nursing Trainee Allowance- Bawumia
The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has given an assurance of the payment of allowances due nursing trainees in the country in the course of this week.
According to him, an amount of GHC177 million is due to hit the account of the Ministry of Health by tomorrow, May 16, 2024, for onward disbursement to the trainees.
Addressing some nursing trainees as part of his campaign tour in Accra he disclosed, “I wish to assure our nursing trainees. Wherever I go they say ‘alawa’ has not dropped and so I engaged the Ministry of Finance and the Minister has sent me the evidence that by this Thursday, the Controller is transferring GHC177 million to the Ministry of Health’s account to pay the nursing trainee allowances.”
In this regard, the 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said he has urged the Minister-designate for the Ministry of Health to ensure prompt disbursement to the trainees.
“I have also alerted Dr Oko Boye to be on standby. When the money hits their account, they should move it quickly to the Nursing Trainees account.”
