¢10B Spent on Roads from January to June- Gov’t
The government of Ghana has disclosed that GH¢10 billion was spent on the construction of roads across the country in the first half of the year.
The Minister for Finance, Hon Mohammed Amin Adam made this known during a press briefing on August 29, 2024, as he addressed the country on some road projects ongoing and completed across the country.
“So far, from January to June, we’ve spent ¢10 billion on road infrastructure alone. This government is really committed as demonstrated by the levels of investment we are making to improve the movement of goods and people across the country.”
He continued, “This week, the President cut sod for the Accra-Tema motorway redevelopment project and two days ago, I visited the Kasoa-Winneba road project site with the Minister for Roads and Highways. And as you also know, the Adenta-Dodowa road is progressing… We working to improve economic roads which include Accra-Kumasi road.”
These projects, he indicated, were funded from the national budget and are part of efforts to enhance trade, tourism and regional integration.
He added that some projects that got stalled as a result of the debt restructuring programme have been completed.
“I must indicate that the government has taken steps to ensure the completion of strategies and infrastructure that have been impacted by the debt operation. Our efforts have enabled us to complete the Prempeh I International Airport, the Afari Military hospital in Kumasi as well as the Yakubu Tali International Airport in Tamale.”
