World Bank Commits to Support Ghana’s Plan for Sustainable Job Creation

The World Bank has expressed its commitment to supporting Ghana’s plan to create sustainable jobs.
During an engagement with the Managing Director and Chief Knowledge Officer of the World Bank, Mr Paschal Donohoe, on March 16, 2026, Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson pointed to unemployment among the youth as a major setback facing the government.
After successfully resetting the economy and placing it firmly on the path to sustainability last year, he indicated that the public sector employment alone was not adequate for absorption.
He therefore shared the government’s plans to create sustainable jobs through major policies and programmes.
Congratulating the government on the remarkable improvement in national finances, Mr Donohoe indicated that the World Bank stands ready to continue supporting Ghana.
He was particularly focused on a Jobs and Growth Analysis to help identify new opportunities for job creation.
