Woe Betides the First Appointee to Drag My Govt Into Corruption Scandal- Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has vowed to give away any member of his government who gets entangled in any corruption scandal.

He intends to make such a person face the full rigours of the law, he told the Christian Council during an engagement on November 18, 2025.

“I have sent notices to my Ministers. Every day in the cabinet, I remind them. I say… woe betides the first person who brings a scandal against this government. We shall hang them on a cross. I keep warning them that they will go through the same prosecution as the previous government officials.”

President Mahama denied allegations of witch-hunting against the previous government officials.

“Before I became President, I had indicated that we were going to take the fight against corruption to a whole new level and it’s not anything personal against anybody. I have said several times that our problem with the fight against corruption is that it is always post-regime corruption that we fight.”

“When a government is in office and scandals are taking place, they don’t deal with them. They leave it until a new government comes, and when that government comes and starts investigating, the previous government accused them of witch-hunting.”

He emphasised that the fight against galamsey was necessary to reinforce the faith of Ghanaians in democracy.

“We must show that the political elite is capable of governing accountably.
