Why Otumfuo Has Yet to Elevate Fiapre to a Paramountcy

At the Asanteman Council meeting on Monday, the Asantehene cited tradition as the reason Fiapre has not yet been elevated to paramountcy.

Before the end of this year, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II intends to elevate that stool in the Bono Region.

While outlining some Divisional Councils he intends to honour, the King spotlighted Fiapre which was founded by a son of Awua Dumase, also in the Bono Region.

His Majesty said that Awua Dumase- which is currently without a chief- must present Fiapre before him on the day he elevates him.

“When I’m done with Awua Dumase, I will let him bring his son Fiapre then I elevate him. I do everything in accordance with tradition. I allowed Fiapre to wait due to the absence of Awua Dumase. I wanted to deal with his father first before I proceeded to him.”

Currently, Obrempong Professor Kyem Amponsah II is the chief of Fiapre.

No Chief
Currently, Awua Dumase is without a chief. Processes to install one has been stalled by a dispute over the legitimacy of the Queen to elect a candidate to ascend the stool.

According to the plaintiff, the Queen is not a royal while the candidate she picked is also a non-royal.

A Committee has been constituted to probe the allegation.
