Why Kaaka’s Brother Was Arrested.
DCOP David Adjem Agyemamg has recounted the circumstances that led to the arrest of Iddi Mohammed, brother of the late social media activist Ibrahim Mohammed, known as Kaaka.
The late social media activist was ambushed and struck with implements by some unknown assailants infront of his house and subsequently died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on Monday 28th June, 2021.
Family and some residents had earlier claimed the attack on Kaaka’s life was politically motivated, however, details from the Police has shown quite the opposite.
DCOP Adjem Agyemamg made this known when he was invited by the Three Member Committee probing the Ejura riot.
“On 30th June, Sardia Fuseini who had earlier given us a statement came back to the police station accompanied by the husband, Fuseini Mohammed and one Muniratu Alhassan.”
“She gave a further statement that on the 26th June, she saw Iddi Mohammed, a brother of Kaaka dragging the victim, now deceased toward a bathroom in their house.
“And that, Muniratu Alhassan had also seen this happen and that they both saw Iddi Mohammed running from the scene.
“After this statement, the Police arrested Iddi Mohammed and took caution statement from him. Subsequently, as we have done previously, the suspect was sent to Mampong and later all three were brought to the Regional Police Command in Kumasi.”
“On Friday, 2nd July, the three were arraigned before court and they have been remanded into police custody to reappear on 13th July, 2021”, he narrated.
The three suspects have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and murder.
Meanwhile family of Kaaka have petitioned the Vice President and Minister for Interior for the immediate release of Iddis Mohammed on the basis that he was innocent.
