Why Diana Armstrong Grew Her Fingernails Which Has Earned Her World’s Longest Fingernails Record
Diana Armstrong, a citizen of the United States of America (USA) has achieved a new record for the longest fingernails ever according to the Guinness World Record.
Her fingernails measure 42 ft 10.4 inch (1,306.58 cm).
The long fingernails were not planned, however, it began when Diana lost her daughter to Asthma twenty-four (24) years ago in 1997.
“This is just a part of me because of my daughter that died and I always kept her close to me”, she disclosed.
Trisha, until her death, was “the only one who did my nails for me. She polished it and filed it for me.”
Trisha died of an Asthma attack in her sleep at the age of 15.
“She did my nails for me the night before so I just couldn’t cut my nails off after that. When my kids told me to cut my nails, I told them to mind their business. They never knew why I was growing them because I always kept it to myself”, Diana recalled during an interview posted by Guinness World Record.
Rania Armstrong, a daughter of Diana described the nail as “a living memorial” and said they accepted their mom’s decision to keep them after she told them the mystery behind keeping them.
According to Diana, her long nails are now cared for by her grandchildren and it takes them four to five hours to get one nail done. She also revealed that her nails take between 15 and 20 nail polishes to paint them.
Diana says she has challenges picking some staff from the floor and so uses her feet sometimes.
She can eat with her nails but uses assistance in getting dressed.
“My nails are pretty to me,” she said and added that she won’t cut them even if she is offered a huge sum of money.
Diana believes Trisha will be proud of her because she was the last person to cut her nails and it has remained so till now.
