WhatsApp Users Can Now Edit Sent Messages
Meta has introduced a feature that enables WhatsApp users to make corrections and changes to messages they have already sent.
This is being rolled out globally according to Meta, however, it will be made available to all WhatsApp users in the coming weeks.
The feature works for WhatsApp messages up to 15 mins after they are sent.
“From correcting a simple misspelling to adding extra context to a message, we’re excited to bring you more control over your chats. All you need to do is long-press on a sent message and choose ‘Edit’ from the menu for up to fifteen minutes after,” a statement from the Company explained
Additionally, it said “edited” will be displayed alongside such messages which will appear to the receiver.
“Edited messages will display ‘edited’ alongside them, so those you’re messaging are aware of the correction without showing edit history. As with all personal messages, media and calls, your messages and the edits you make are protected by end-to-end encryption.”
Although many users believe the feature will be “helpful”, one has raised concerns about its negative implication.
“As much as people see this so much helpful, I later saw the negative part where people will edit the whole messages and twist the story and victimising themselves on something that doesn’t exist,” one commented on a post by Mark Zuckerberg announcing the feature.
