We’ve Not Increased Cocoa Prices- COCOBOD

The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has debunked claims of cocoa price increments.

A statement on Facebook referenced a circulating flyer stating that the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon Eric Opoku, had announced a 70% increase in cocoa prices.

It then stated that the news was false.

“Our attention has been drawn to a false flyer circulating on social media claiming that the Minister for Food and Agriculture has announced an increase in cocoa prices. This information is completely untrue.”

It further urged the public to rely on information from its official social media handles.

“We urge our cherished stakeholders and the public to disregard this fake news and rely only on official communication from COCOBOD and the Ministry.”

Currently, a tonne of cocoa sells at ¢49,000 while a bag is ¢3,100.

It was last increased in November 2024 by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The current government while in opposition promised to increase the price of cocoa from the current GH¢3,100 per bag to GH¢6,000.
