We’re Assisting Ghanaians in Middle East to Escape via Strategic Border Crossings- Foreign Minister

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has reported that willing Ghanaians in the Middle East are being assisted to escape across certain strategic border crossings.

This is being spearheaded by diplomatic missions, he noted, adding that the safety and welfare of all Ghanaians remain the government’s utmost priority.

Meanwhile, he said all missions have been tasked to identify Ghanaians within their jurisdictions who wish to be evacuated for the urgent consideration of the government.

According to him, a reliable database of all Ghanaians in Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, Iran, and Turkey, including those on short visits and those transiting, has been compiled.

He confirmed that no Ghanaian has been killed or injured in the ongoing war.

It comes after he convened a virtual meeting with Ambassadors and Consuls General in the Middle East to assess the latest developments and explore additional consular interventions towards the protection of Ghanaians.
