We’ll Fully Implement 24-hour Economy by End of 2026- Youth Development Minister

The Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, has announced that the full implementation of the government’s flagship 24-hour economy will take place by the end of the year.
According to him, transitioning into such a policy takes time for effectiveness.
He stated that it requires legislative measures and directives, which are currently underway, to make way for its full offset.
“Changing the entire structure of an economy that has been in place for years, from an 8-hour to a 24-hour system, cannot happen in less than 12 months,” he stated.
Affirming the government’s commitment to policy envisioned to enhance economic productivity, competitiveness and inclusivity, he said the country will fully transition by the end of the year.
“Everyone who is honest will see that progress is being made. Changing the structure of the economy is not a one-time event; it is a process that takes time to unfold. We are clearly on track, and by the end of this year, we expect to see the full impact of the 24-hour economy.”
According to the government, the 24-hour economy is about reorganising the economy to function continuously and efficiently, powered by stable energy, modern logistics, skilled labour and digital networks.
