We’ll Do Our Best Amid Daunting Economic Challenges We Face- Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has promised his government will be working harder to salvage the country from the economic crisis it faces.

He admitted that it would be a rough ride; however, he says he is willing to do his best and work hard to deliver in accordance with the expectations of Asanteman and Ghana at large.

Speaking at the Akwasidae Festival at the Manhyia Palace on January 19, 2025, the President reiterated his commitment to rebuilding and resetting the country.

“Your Majesty I want to thank the people of Asanteman for the confidence reposed in me and the NDC in electing us into government. I know that your expectations are very high and I know that the challenges that we face are very daunting but I can assure you that we will do our best and work out hardest to be able to overcome these challenges and make Ghana a better place for our children and grandchildren.”

He also outlined some harsh realities he is facing.

“Your Majesty, our nation Ghana is facing a dire economic crisis. While this is not the first time that we have been in such a crisis, this particular crisis is characterised by a high rate of inflation, macroeconomic instability, depreciating currency and above all a debt default which has shut us out of the international credit market is a more daunting challenge that we have ever experienced in our history.”

President Mahama joined the Akwasidae Festival held at the Dwabrem grounds of the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

He was accompanied by government officials and the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Among them were NDC National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Ashanti Regional Minister-designate, Frank Amoakohene, NDC Ashanti Regional Chairman, Augustus Nana Akwasi Andrews, Former Attorney-General, Betty Mould Iddrisu and the brother of the President, Ibrahim Mahama.
