We won’t Vote – Kumawu Residents
Some residents of Kumawu have indicated that, they will not participate in the upcoming by-election because of the failed promises of the present and past governments.
In an interview with George Adjei on Nkwantannanso, Honourable Dauda Aziz, the Assembly Member for Sekyere Kumawu Electoral Area, stated that, he had received reports of some residents who are not willing to vote.
“The desire of every leader is to see their community develop and prosper through various developmental projects. However, due to economic hardships faced in many countries, a leader’s ability to accomplish all goals may be limited, despite their best efforts,” he said.
He explained that the late, Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Philip Basoah, lobbied and secured for the constituency rehabilitation works on the Kumawu-Woraso-Effiduase-Juaben road network in the Sekyere Kumawu District in the Ashanti Region.
Some residents however believe that since the execution of the project coincides with the by-election, then it has a political undertone.
According to the Minister of Roads and Highways, Mr Kwesi Amoako-Atta, the procurement processes of the construction of the road took off in 2022 and it was signed in February this year, before the demise of the MP.
The project which would see the entire 32-kilometre road being done in phases is expected to be completed in 18 months.
