We have let our Guard Down- Prez Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has called on Ghanaians to be responsible in observing the COVID-19 safety protocols to avoid an escalation of the third wave.
The president expressed his worry over the emerging Delta Variant that is causing the third wave.
Addressing Ghanaians at the newly inaugurated Kanda Mosque, he noted that the third wave is here in the country because Ghanaians have let down their guard.
According to him, collective effort is needed to deal with the pandemic.
“As we continue to count on the Grace of God to protect our country from the ravages of the pandemic like we have done since its outbreak, we could only minimize its health effect and avoid a full blown third wave if we continue to be responsible and observe the safety and hygiene protocol.”
“The recent increase in the number of infections is the source of worry for me and indeed for all Ghanaians. From the rising numbers, it is safe to conclude we have let our guard down.”
“We are beginning to live our lives and conduct our businesses as though we are in normal times.”
“It is important to repeat that the virus is still with us and until each and everyone of us receives a double dose of the vaccine, the protocols must continue to be a part and parcel of our daily activity.”
“Ministry of Health is working hard to ensure that even in the midst of global shortage of vaccines, the target that we have set for ourselves to vaccinate the adult population of Ghana ie, some 20, 000,000 Ghanaians is undertaken.”
“Until that goal is achieved, I will continue to count on the support and cooperation of the Ghanaian people to ensure our collective security”, he said.
