We Allowed Ofori Atta to Finish Ruining Our Economy Before Retiring Him?- Adwoa Safo

Former Minister for Dome Kwabenya Constituency, Sarah Adwoa Safo has run to the defence of former Vice President and 2024 Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
She absolved him of all blame regarding the rundown of the economy prior to the December polls.

According to her, if there is anyone to point fingers at for the economic mess, it must be former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

Adwoa, while speaking passionately at a public event, recalled how deaf ears were turned to calls by some Members of Parliament to have him removed from the position.

“Was Dr Mahamudu Bawumia a finance minister? I ask. Weren’t we all in government when some MPs protested against the finance minister due to the poor performance of the cedi? Did we heed that? Didn’t he finish ruining it before we let him sit aside? How do we blame this on Dr Bawumia?”

In addition, she stated that Dr Bawumia could not have bypassed his boss- Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo- to run the affairs of the country.

“As a driver’s mate, can you push the driver aside and take over the steer? We ruined everything and turned a deaf ear to cries and dipped our fingers into the money of pensioners.”

She stated that Bawumia must not be single-handedly held accountable for the mess created by the entire government.

“A lot accounted for our 2024 election defeat. It’s not about an individual. Dr Bawumia didn’t do anything. We pissed Ghanaians off because we failed to listen to them.”
