Wanderlust Ghana Hails Manhyia Palace Museum
Wanderlust Ghana has hailed the antiquities and immersive experience offered by the Manhyia Palace Museum to tourists as “very impressive”.
One of the 12-member group who spoke on their behalf on the sidelines of a visit to the Museum located at the official residence of the King of the Asante Kingdom, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, urged people from across the country and beyond to make a date and visit.
“I’m very impressed with the Manhyia Museum. I’m a traveller and I have been to more than 64 countries. I’ve seen a lot of Museums and I think anyone who hasn’t been to the Manhyia Museum in the last two or three years since it was upgraded must make time and visit. It’s a very impressive thing.”
The Museum was in 2021 closed down to make way for renovation and is now the 10th most visited tourist site in the country with a total of 57,319 visitors in the previous year.
Wanderlust Ghana was at the Palace Museum on July 24, 2024, with officials of the Ghana Tourism Authority as part of a one-week tour across the country.
Kumasi and Takoradi were among their targets yesterday, having visited Ada, Ho, Dambai and Bolga in a journey that started on Sunday, July 21, 2024.
Opemsuo Radio was told the aim and the agenda is to help the Tourism Authority promote domestic tourism.
“We will end tomorrow (July 25) in Elmina and the day after in Accra. We are in the process of documenting things of interest. The whole aim is to encourage domestic tourism,” he told Opemsuo Radio’s George Addo.
Wanderlust Ghana rose to global popularity last year when they embarked on a remarkable journey from Accra to Ghana, covering 10,000 kilometres by land to raise awareness about the digital literacy gap in Ghana and Africa and raise about $17,000 in support of that.
They started the expedition of driving from one continent to the other from Accra on Sunday, July 23, 2023, and ended their journey in London by Sunday, August 6.
