WAEC Warns Schools Charging Exorbitant Fees For WASSCE Registration
The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has named five Senior High Schools (SHS) commercialising the registration of candidates in the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The second-cycle institutions are said to be advertising high registration fees to prospective candidates in exchange for good grades.
The schools include Olistar Senior High/Technical School at Abesim, Gateway SHS in Sunyani, Lawrence SHS in Sunyani, First Class SHS at Achimota and Martin Luther SHS in Kintampo.
These schools are said to be enticing prospective candidates to register with them at fees ranging from GH¢1,200.00 and GH¢6,750.00.
Meanwhile, the Council said the approved registration fee for 7 or 8 subjects is GH¢381.24, exclusive of the fees for practical or oral tests which range between GH¢14.50 and GH¢19.50 per practical test.
Candidates will sit WASSCE from Monday, July 31 to Tuesday, September 26, 2023.
