W/R: 13 Illegal Miners Arrested, 120 Chagfans Demobilised

Thirteen illegal miners are in police grips after a swoop was carried out at Wassa Gyapa in the Western Region.

The suspects were identified as Nana Ampadu, Stephen Tetteh, Yaw Dalame, Samuel Amoah, Kwame Oppong, Francis Oduom, Owusu Asare, Atta Kwame, Apiyanga Emmanuel, Kojo Montanakito, Maxwell Owusu, Obofo Vincent, and Soogal Fataw.

The swoop by the anti-galamsey operations took place on May 19, 2025.

The police found 120 changfang machines as well as six motorbikes at the scene.

A statement by the police said that all Chanfang machines were disabled.

“The suspects will be arraigned before the Tarkwa Circuit Court today, Tuesday, 20th May 2025.”
