Volta River Can Feed Entire West Africa- John Dumelo.
Actor cum farmer, John Dumelo has stated that the Volta River, has the capacity to provide food on the tables of the entire West African region.
He said this capacity will be realized if the river which is strategically positioned is put to good use.
In a short Facebook live video on Monday, the actor stood by the river to draw his analysis and humble view.
The river arguably the only one yet to be polluted by illegal mining activities could solve the irrigation challenges farmers face.
According to the 2024 National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, access to water for irrigation is the major obstacle to farming in the country and this river could be taken advantage of to solve that.
“The reason why I’m doing this is that I just want you guys to see how beautiful the Volta River is. See how beautiful it is and the Volta River is right from the south to the Northern part of Ghana.”
“Irrigation is the best way to solve Ghana’s problems in agriculture. The Volta River can feed the entire West Africa if we use it correctly, especially for irrigation.
“The water is here and over there you have vast lands. It stretches right from the top to down there, that’s the Sogakope side.”
