USA-based Church Supports Otumfuo Foundation With ₵6K
Covenant United Church, a church based in South Holland in the United States of America has donated an amount of GH₵6,000 to the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation (OOTIIF).
The Church’s leader, Rev Dr. Patrick Daymond, and his wife, Anthonia Daymond, were led by Prof. Bernard Kofi Baiden, the Operations Manager of the Royal Golf Club, who conveyed this to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
The amount will be used in support of two of the projects the OOTIIF is undertaking in the country including the Otumfuo-Agroecom Mobile Learning Project and the Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge.
Speaking on their behalf during the sixth Akwasidae of the year at the Manhyia Palace on September 3, Prof Baiden said the Church- whose Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) centres on education- having heard about the educational projects of the Foundation decided to support it.
He also said the couple have adopted Adanwomase as their hometown and will be constructing a computer laboratory and library for the town.
The Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge is a competition which aims at developing the interest of both the lingua franca (English Language) and our native Twi language whereas the Community Leaning Project seeks to bridge the gap between rural and urban education through the provision of laptops and GES-recommended books to aid students in the rural settings with practical Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Reading lessons respectively as well as to a Community Cinema sessions.
