US Commits to Removing Ken Ofori-Atta and Sedina Tamakloe Attionu

The United States of America (USA) has committed to sending over former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedina Tamakloe Attionu.

According to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the US government, during an engagement, pledged non-interference in removing the two from their country.

“Ghana and the United States applauded our improved security and law enforcement cooperation, leading to the extradition of 9 suspects from Ghana to the USA in 2025, and the ongoing commendable efforts to also send over 2 Ghanaians of high interest from the US to Ghana.”

“The United States Government has assured that, without prejudice to judicial processes, it will not stand in the way of Ghana as regards the removal of Ken Ofori-Atta and Sedina Tamakloe Attionu.”

This was during a meeting hosted at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the Acting US Ambassador, Rolf Olson and his US team.

While Ofori Atta is wanted in Ghana for alleged corruption in the award of some contracts, the former MASLOC boss is being sought to serve a 10-year prison sentence for causing financial loss to the state.
