UK born of Ghanaian descent, Micheal Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr, known in showbiz as Stormzy paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Staff at Manhyia Palace.
The British rapper,singer and songwriter says he is very happy to be in Ghana and precisely Kumasi and is honored to have been received by the Chief of Staff despite the short notice given him.
Mr. Kofi Badu, Chief of Staff to His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, in his welcome remarks congratulated Stormzy for his role in projecting the life of Black children living in the UK and urge him to continue with the humanitarian work for not only the youth in the UK but also the youth in Ghana.
The Chief of Staff further disclosed that he would have appreciated it if Stormzy and his team had stayed a little longer to witness the first Akwasidae in the year to be celebrated by the Asantehene.
Stormzy in a response said he and his team are elated and definitely coming back. He expressed his profound gratitude to the Chief of Staff for the warm reception and disclosed that though the ‘Brits are claiming him, he still much connected to his ancestral roots.’
Stormzy toured the Palace Museum with one of Ghana’s favourite rappers Kwesi Arthur, Ko Jo Cue and the fast rising Kumasi based rapper Yaw Togg.
