UCC to Honour Veep with a Distinguished Fellow Award

The University of Cape Coast is scheduled to honour Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang today.
She will be conferred a Distinguished Fellow Award.
This is in recognition of her distinguished leadership, academic contributions and service to national development.
The ceremony is scheduled for 2:00 PM on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the University of Cape Coast.
“The Presidency congratulates the Vice President on this well-deserved recognition,” the Jubilee House said in a statement.
In a statement dated February 27, 2026, UCC said the award celebrates Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s historic election as Ghana’s first female Vice President.
It described the moment as transformational for democracy and gender representation in the country.
“The Award is in recognition of Her Excellency’s distinguished services to the University of Cape Coast as an illustrious alumna and Fellow, as well as her commitment to society, women and children, academia, governance, democracy, leadership, national and global development,” the statement noted.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang was previously the Vice-Chancellor of the institution from 2008 to 2012.
