UCC to Absorb Qualified L300 Students of Closed-Down Royal Nursing College

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) is preparing to absorb third-year students of Royal Nursing College, a private nursing training school located at Tafo Nhyiaeso that has been closed down by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).
In an update on the closure, GTEC said UCC will conduct an audit of all students currently in Level 300 and absorb only those who meet the prescribed entry requirements.
The fate of first- and second-year students of the defunct institution lies in limbo after the UCC record showed that these students were neither properly admitted nor matriculated.
“They are not recognised by the Commission, as they were admitted by the College at a time when its accreditation had been revoked, and it had been directed to cease fresh admissions,” the Commission noted, further charging the College to refund all fees paid by these students.
During a meeting with UCC, the GTEC found that the former suspended its affiliation with the College, following the Nursing and Midwifery Council’s (N&MC) withdrawal of its license, and GTEC’s revocation of its institutional accreditation.
The Commission, therefore, urged the general public to verify the accreditation status of tertiary institutions and their programmes before seeking admission.
