Truck Driver Trapped After Being Crashed By Generator on a Trailer
The driver of a charcoal truck was trapped after his vehicle was hit by a generator that had fallen from an oncoming trailer at Assin Nkran in the Central Region.
According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the 215-ton generator was being transported from Takoradi to Kumasi when it fell off its trailer and collided with the charcoal truck which was coming from the opposite direction.
It also crashed into a parked Nissan Almera vehicle.
The impact of the crash on the charcoal truck which at the time had two persons on board left the driver trapped. His ‘mate’ however escaped unharmed.
Personnel from the Abura Dunkwa Fire Station responded to rescue the driver.
“The charcoal truck driver was trapped in the wreckage, while the mate escaped unharmed. Rescuers skillfully extricated the injured driver.”
The victim was immediately handed over to the ambulance service to be transported to the Abura Dunkwa Hospital for medical attention.
It added, “The accident temporarily blocked the main road, with a bypass created for smaller vehicles while recovery operations were initiated. The team also ensured safety by cleaning up spilt fuel from the generator to prevent further hazards.”
