Transition Process Must Be Halted- Annoh Dompreh

The Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency, Frank Annor Dompreh, has demanded a halt in the processes to transition to a new government until all outstanding Parliamentary results are declared.

The process of handing over to the next government has already begun with the constitution of the outgoing government team and the incoming government team.

The Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency is among eight constituencies whose Parliamentary results are yet to be announced by the Electoral Commission due to violence after the December 7 polls.

Speaking at a press conference on December 11, 2024, Hon Annoh Dompreh called for the suspension of the transition process.

“Let me appeal to the outgoing President, HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo-we know he has set a transition process. We want to appeal to the President. He who comes with equity must come with clean hands so the transition process should be halted.

“HE Nana Akufo-Addo should halt the process and President-elect John Dramani Mahama must show the same equity and must speak to his people and ensure that all the other outstanding seats are duly declared by the EC before the transition process goes on.”

Violence marred the declaration of the Parliamentary election results in parts of the country with some constituencies yet to complete the collation process for the announcement of the winner.

The Electoral Commission Chairperson, Jean Mensah on Monday said their offices had been besieged by political party supporters, making it impossible to complete the collation process.

The remaining constituencies are Awutu Senya East, Nsawam Adoagyir, Akwatia, Suhum, Techiman South, Dome Kwabenya, Ablekuma North and Ahafo Ano North.

At the presser, Annoh Dompreh disclosed the EC was establishing a security platform to pronounce the results and to declare the due winners of various constituencies.
