Trade Minister Begs Traders to Reduce Prices of Goods this Xmas
The Minister for Trade and Industry who doubles as Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi Asokwa constituency, Hon K T Hammond has appealed to traders across the country to reduce prices of commodities in order for Ghanaians to enjoy this Christmas festivity.
In an interaction with parliamentary press corps, Mr Hammond said, “I’m pleading with the traders to reduce their prices this Christmas. We have been receiving complaints from consumers about steps taken to control price at the market.”
“It is not the mandate of Ministry of Trade and Industry to price commodities at the market but the traders themselves but traders should minimise the price to gain high profits and for the benefit of Ghanaians.”
He explained that government has put measures in place to ensure low price of commodities through some tax reduction and stabilisation of the dollar, therefore, traders should allow this to reflect in market price in order to ease the burden of Ghanaians.
