Toyota Cup: I Trust Kotoko, But I Know You Are a Strong Team; Asantehene to Kaizer Chiefs

The Life Patron of Asante Kotoko SC, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has expressed his confidence in his club ahead of the highly anticipated Toyota Cup in South Africa.

The game is slated for July 26, 2025.

During a courtesy visit by officials from the South African football giant on July 16, 2025, Otumfuo anticipated a “favourable and brotherly” competition that would advance into fruitful collaboration.

“I hope this will bring Kotoko and Kaizer Chiefs together, and I’m sure we will have a collaboration in advancing football and bring South Africa and Ghana together.”

Affirming his trust in the Porcupines, the Asantehene acknowledged the impressive abilities of Kaizer FC.

“I trust my team, but I always know Kaizer Chiefs is a strong team…Make sure you let them score. Extend my regards to the Zulu Kung and also thank him for expressing a desire to host my team.”

In his remarks, the leader of the delegation, Kabelo Bosilogo, expressed gratitude to the King for the reception, adding that hosting Kotoko was a privilege.

“On behalf of the Chairman of Kaizer Chiefs, we would like to officially invite you to the Toyota Cup next week. It would be an honour for us to host Asante Kotoko. The two clubs have very rich histories in football in Africa.”

He underscored the desire for the partnership between the two clubs to extend beyond the field.

“For us, this is an exciting match, and we hope to work together on exciting projects in the future to assist one another. We wish to be enemies on the pitch, but off the field, we should be partners.”

The delegation included Stanton Fredericks, a club legend and Siyabonga Eugene Nomvethe, a club legend.
