Thoroughly Look Into Tanoso Stool Dispute; Asantehene to Committee

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has given a constituted committee four weeks to thoroughly probe the chieftaincy dispute that has bedeviled the Tanoso Traditional Area.

The dispute is between the Queen and a member of the royal house and started when Queen elected one Kwadwo Sarfo to take over the vacant stool.

The royal is challenging the legitimacy of the Queen and her candidate. He argues that the Queen is not a royal and has no right to appoint a candidate to be enstooled. He therefore invoked the Great Oath to his defence.

During an Asanteman Council meeting at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on September 26, the Queen challenged the assertion and countered it with the Great Oath.

The Asantehene in that regard set up a committee to ascertain the veracity of the claims of both parties for peace to reign.

The Committee is made up of Kuntenasehene Barima Ogyeabour Amankwaa Adunan IV, Goasohene Nana Akwasi Bosomprah, Oyokohene Nana Agyekum Ababio, Otumfuo Kyeame Nana Antwi Boasiako and Ofoasehene Nana Appiah Ampam Frimpong II

“The last time the case was called, a candidate was elected to be enstooled. It appears the candidate was not a royal and that created an uproar in the Traditional Area. None of those who stood here during his election raised objections but the people did when they went to the town. We now have to look into the claim.”

Otumfuo therefore charged the committee members to be candid in probing it.
