Thomas Tuchel Departs Bayern In June
Former Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel will leave FC Bayern Munich at the end of the season, the club has confirmed.
The termination of his contract will be a year earlier.
In a statement Bayern said its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jan-Christian Dreesen and Thomas Tuchel have had a constructive conversation to arrive at the decision.
“FC Bayern Munich and head coach Thomas Tuchel have jointly decided to end their working relationship, which was originally set to run until 30 June 2025, on 30 June 2024. This is the outcome of a constructive discussion between.”
According to Dreesen, Bayern is up for a new football direction in the next season and thereby the need to review its leadership.
In the meantime, he has charged the team and its staff to focus on winning the Champions League and Bundesliga.
After replacing Julian Naglesmann who was dismissed earlier in 2023 by the Bundesliga side, he won the club their 11th premier league title that year.
In their last three games across all competitions, Bayern have produced unsatisfactory results losing by 3-2 to Vfl Bochum, 1-0 to Lazio and 3-0 to Luverkusen.
They are currently second in the Bundesliga with 50 points, eight away from unbeaten Leverkusen. After 22 games, the defending champions have 18 wins two draws and four losses.
Despite their 1-0 loss in the first leg of the UEFA Champions Round of 16 game against Lazio, they are hopeful of qualifying for the quarter-finals when they host the Serie A side at Allianz Arena in the second leg.
Meanwhile, they have been crashed out of the DFB Pokal by German third-division side FC Saarbrucken.
