Eye Tests must be done at least Twice Annually- Doctor

A medical practitioner at Tonylin Healthcare Consult, Dr Anthony Yeboah, has emphasized the need for individuals to prioritise the health status of their sight by subjecting themselves to regular testing.

According to him, eye tests must be done thrice every year and at least twice annually.

Speaking to opemsuo.com on the sidelines of a free medical screening organized by Opemsuo Radio, the certified mouthpiece of the Manhyia Palace, Dr Yeboah counselled the public to make eye testing a central part of their priorities.

“We are humans and it’s like having a car. You need to regularly take it to the mechanic for maintenance. The eye must undergo testing every three months. People don’t do this due to their busy schedules. I suggest that people should test their eyes at least twice a year even if they are not experiencing issues and they are going to enjoy their eyes throughout their lifetime.”

For those curtailed by the cost of eye tests, Dr Yeboah advised that they take advantage of free eye screenings which are routinely conducted across the country by corporate bodies.

“Many clinics like ours undertake regular eye tests at no cost to the public. At our facility, the lens is free as well as the test. We only refer when referral becomes necessary.”

In collaboration with partners including the Methodist Hospital, Tonylin Healthcare Consult, Danny’s Pharmacy, Frankel Foundation and Willingway Foundation, services such as eye tests, genotype tests, blood typing, Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) examinations, retro screening, sugar tests, Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure checks and malaria tests are being rendered to the public at no cost.

The free medical screening for listeners and the public is being organized as part of the 25th anniversary of the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the Radio Station’s 4th anniversary.

The exercise is an advantage and opportunity for first-timers to become conversant with their blood type and group as well as give participants free access to medical advice and medication.

Mr Fuseini Issah, Opemsuo Radio’s Programme Manager told opemsuo.com, that the exercise is aimed at giving back to the media organisation’s cherished market share.

“Opemsuo Radio is the organiser of this exercise. We (Opemsuo Radio) are celebrating our fourth anniversary as well as the King’s 25th anniversary on the Golden Stool so we deemed it necessary to provide free healthcare services to the community and our listeners. This is how we got in touch with some healthcare agencies to assist us.”
