Teenage Referees to Officiate in MTN FA Cup Quarter-finals

Eight beneficiaries of the Ghana Football Association (GFA)’s “Catch Them Young” project have earned opportunities to officiate in the MTN FA Cup quarter-finals this weekend.

The eight will feature in matches between Attram De Visser and Pac Academy, and Karela United and Golden Kick.

According to the FA, these young referees have excelled “exceptionally” well in the Access Bank Division One League and the Ghana Premier League this season.

It noted that their impressive performance earned them the “opportunity to officiate in the quarter-finals of Ghana’s most prestigious cup competition”.

The games will be hosted at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, March 29, and Sunday, March 30, 2025.

On Saturday, Angelous Akurugu Adonko will be assisted by Abraham Partey (Assistant I), Philip Amoh (Assistant II), and Theophilus Antwi Sekyi (Fourth Official) to officiate the Attram De Visser and Pac Academy game.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Kingsford Oteng Yeboah will also be assisted by Joseph Teye Awasasi (Assistant I), Haruna Yakubu (Assistant II), and Alex Amoabeng (Fourth Official) to officiate the game between Karela United and Golden Kick FC.

Additionally, Mr. Alex Kotey will serve as the Match Commissioner for both games.

The Catch Them Young Refereeing policy was introduced by the Football Association in 2020 to identify, educate and train young talents aged 13-16 to officiate in juvenile matches within their regions.
