Technical Committees on Agriculture Financing and Economic Crops Unveiled

The Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has inaugurated three Technical Committees on agriculture financing and economic crops.

The three committees include the Technical Committee on Agriculture Financing, the Technical Committee on the Oil Palm Project and the Technical Committee on the Cocoa Project.

The Technical Committee on Agriculture Financing Committee has been tasked with developing a comprehensive policy framework to support financing for strategic economic crops.

They are to present their report in three weeks.

Members of the Committee include: David Collison, Samuel Arkhurst, Cynthia Arthur, Frederick Amissah, Emelia Awuviri, Desmond Agbogah, Samuel Yeboah, Kojo Aboagye-Yeboah, Prof. Eric Osei-Assibey, Edna Baffoe-Bonnie and Deborah Ashun.

On the other hand, the Technical Committee on the Oil Palm Project has its membership drawn from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Ministry of Finance, the Tree Crops Development Authority, the Forestry Commission, and the Environmental Protection Authority.

Similarly, the Technical Committee on the Cocoa Project has representatives from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Finance, Ghana Cocoa Board, Tree Crops Development Authority, Forestry Commission, and the Environmental Protection Authority.

These committees are expected to provide actionable frameworks and strategies that will improve financing, enhance productivity, and ensure sustainability across the agriculture value chain.
