Teacher Transfer on Hold in Mion District, GES Says
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has suspended the transfer of teachers in the Mion District for the 2026 academic year.
This was announced by the Mion District Education Directorate in a statement dated February 5.
“The Mion District Education Directorate wishes to inform all teaching staff that all inter-district and inter-regional transfers for the 2026 academic year have been suspended.”
It explained that this had become necessary to address the critical teacher shortage within the district, as the current deficit has reached an alarming level.
“We recognise that this decision may disrupt the plans of teachers seeking transfers this year, and we sincerely regret any personal or professional inconvenience this causes.”
