Tamale Man Arrested for Illegal Firearms Possession

A man identified as Imarana Abdulai Gomda has been arrested in Tamale in the Northern Region for illegally possessing firearms and ammunition.

His arrest was effected on May 29, 2024, with the said arms retrieved by the police.

A brief statement released by the police on Friday morning said “The Ghana Police Service has arrested suspect Imarana Abdulai Gomda at Tamale in the Northern Region for possession of firearms and ammunition without lawful authority.”

It continued, “The suspect was arrested at Datoyili barrier in Tamale on Wednesday, 29th May, 2024. Two SMG rifles with six (6) rounds of 9MM ammunition and two (2) empty magazines were retrieved from him.”

The suspect is still in police custody, assisting with investigations.
