Brigadier General Michael Opoku Not Arrested- GAF

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has dispelled reports of the arrest of Brigadier General Michael Opoku, former General Officer Commanding the Central Command.

It was reported that the military officer had been arrested for possessing ammunition.

However, in a statement, the Forces said all enquiries from various Security Agencies and National Investigation Authorities have not corroborated the said publication of the arrest.

It noted that Brigadier General Michael Opoku remains an active member of the Ghana Armed Forces and is not under arrest for any crime committed.

“The Ghana Armed Forces wishes to state categorically that the story is false and should be ignored. It urges all to refrain from such misinformation and disinformation activities.”

It further assured that any military personnel involved in any crime of any nature would be subjected to the same procedure as any other citizen of the Country.
