Uphold Truthfulness; Otumfuo Kyeame Akyamfuo Told

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has counselled Nana Akwasi Appiah, his newly enstooled linguist, to uphold the virtue of honesty and truthfulness as he assumes responsibility.
The two virtues are the basic requirements for the service of a linguist as there will be a myriad of temptations to influence and buy him out, Otumfuo noted
The counsel was offered during the Kumasi Traditional Council meeting on February 10, 2025, when he appeared before His Majesty to take the oath of allegiance.
“After today, you will find people coming to your house early in the morning with inducement to greet you. However, when you get to this gathering, make the truth stand…Never attempt to influence cases you have an interest in. Strive to uphold truth always.”
Otumfuo also urged him to follow in the footsteps of his predecessor, Nana Agyei.
“Your uncle was a faithful servant. He first served Opoku Ware. He was taken ill a short period after I came…Serve with respect and humility just like your predecessor. He never grew tired of coming to serve and he didn’t make light of his responsibility and role.”
Advising him to seamlessly integrate into the group of linguists who serve him, the Asantehene urged him to be vigilant.
Nana Akwasi Appiah was subsequently allowed to take the oath of allegiance.
