British High Commissioner Calls On Speaker

The newly appointed British High Commissioner to the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Christian Rogg, has paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, to officially introduce himself and also pledge his support to strengthen and deepen the diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Dr. Rogg acknowledged the number of engagements the Commission has had with Ghana’s Parliament on economic growth, security and building the capacity of Parliamentarians.

In response, the Speaker expressed gratitude to the Commission for making available a copy of the historical bond of 1844 to Ghana’s Parliament.


He extended his appreciation to His Majesty the King of United Kingdom, King Charles III and the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer for hosting him during his recent official visit to the United Kingdom.

“You made feel proud to be member of the Commonwealth” he stated.

Also present in receiving the delegation were the Minority Leader Osahen Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, the Ranking Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor and the Deputy Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Camilo Pwamang.
